History of the pool.
Tintinhull swimming pool was dug and built entirely by voluntary labour in the 1930s and operated initially as a club open to all villagers just like any other village organisation. The pool was filled with water pumped up from an adjacent bore hole, which in the absence of chemical dosing and filtration gradually turned green which the frogs seemed to enjoy but the humans less so! Modern dosing and filtration now keep the pool safe and gas fired heating makes it pleasant to swim whatever the weather. More recently, with the advancing age of the fabric, changes in our community’s leisure expectations and increasing regulatory demands, the Pool has come under the control of the Parish Council. However, to this day it is still run entirely by volunteers who give up their time to open the pool, 2 at a time to maintain good order and respond in an emergency. Currently in excess of 60 people support the opening of the pool and as generations turn, so new volunteers are constantly needed. The pool can only be used with two openers, sadly we do not have enough to ensure we can open for every session. If you are able to help with the opening roster please contact firstname.lastname@example.org Please park considerately when using the Pool/Recreation ground. Do not obstruct the access gates or park on the corner next to these. Car parks are situated next to the Village Hall and opposite the church.
